Lets talk about the cords from last night......
The cords were fully wound up in a tight braid, with a full square knot at the top. Its amazing that the cords didn't compress. Perhaps they did. They were as knotted as could imagine. It took the doctor about 5 minutes to unknot and unwind them after delivery. I peeked over the sheet and snapped the above photo with my IPhone.
Upon further review, the cords were VERY different sizes. Hanna's was much thicker, and looks to be almost twice as big. Confirmed our suspicions that poor little Ashlyn was in fact, getting the short end of the stick. She was always smaller, and her distress yesterday initiated the move to delivery. It seems clear now why. But why was her cord so much smaller in diameter? Why wasn't she getting the same blood/nutrient flow? Unknown. MOMO twins are a "fluke" , and thus its just how it played out.
After not much sleep last night, we came to the NICU this morning around 7am for the morning report. Turns out Hanna had a rough night, as her blood pressure had dropped some and they medicated her for it........Was not the best news to hear, but not terrible.
